The Dornoch Firth Group Bridge Project was established in 2007. It seeks to serve the community of East Sutherland within the six parishes of Edderton, Kincardine, Croick, Rosehall, Creich and Dornoch. The DFG became a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) in August 2011. The management group initially made up of members of the Church of Scotland churches have taken steps to include the wider community.
As well as continuing with the long standing groups that we run the DFG are always looking to see what's next for us to develop to meet local needs.
In November 2015 we consulted with our local community via a survey monkey questionnaire and we also distributed printed copies of the questionnaire to local schools, a library, churches, and to a local GP surgery, NHS care at home staff, other charities and local organisations etc.
We received 112 completed surveys back and, along with our regular groups, we are now planning some new friendship initiatives this year that will be based in Dornoch as well as starting a monthly support group run with LGOWIT for people who have a long term health condition in the West Church hall.
You can follow the link above to our Facebook page for up to date news and please look at our website calendar to find out what's on each week.
We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded funding support by the Big Lottery! This grant will enable us to continue and expand our range of services within our local community. This support will continue over the next 5 years. Please watch out for local press announcements soon!
We currently also receive core funding from the Robertson Trust, The People's Health Trust and the Community Self-Management Development Fund.
We currently have some spaces left if you would like to join our new Friendship group called 'The Bakery'. Please look at our Facebook page for more information, following the Facebook link on this page. Or call Charles or Yvonne our DFG Outreach Workers on 07585 336 966.
We are currently looking for new trustees to join us and share their experience.
